Love Island's Uma Jammeh breaks silence on shock villa exit which left viewers in tears

Love Island's Uma Jammeh breaks silence on shock villa exit which left viewers in tears

Love Island fan-favourite Uma Jammeh shared her future plans with Wil Anderson

Last night's instalment of Love Island was certainly a tearful one for many viewers, after one of the show's most-loved contestants quit amid a shock recoupling ceremony.

Model and VIP host Uma Jammeh - who had been coupled up with quantity surveyor Wil Anderson for several weeks - was a fan-favourite.

It's no surprise, therefore, that viewers have been desperate to hear her thoughts on her shock exit from the villa - which aired last night after her partner was dumped - and finally, today, she's spoken out.

It isn't just her boldness with the boys that has seen Uma, 23, go down a hit with viewers watching from home over the last few weeks, but her closeness to this year's female contestants, to whom she always been available to offer a shoulder to cry on or a motivational message whenever they've been pied.

Naturally, therefore, many fans of the show have formed an attachment with the lovable bombshell, so when it was revealed earlier this week that she'd departed the show early, viewers were utterly blindsided.

The heartbreaking scenes aired last night, with one Love Island viewer taking to social media to admit: "Uma leaving has left me in TEARS I'm embarrassed."

Another added: "Why would Uma leave like I'm literally crying rn… I can’t wait til tomorrow episode bc I’m so confused."

Despite her cast-mates imploring her to stay and complete her time on the ITV2 reality series, in a brand new interview, she's now lifted the lid on what spurred her decision.

Speaking to ITV producers, she described her departure as 'bittersweet' and explained why she was 'instantly' attracted to Wil.

"He was all in for me which I really liked, and it was refreshing off the back of the Ayo situation," she continued.

"Once Wil took me to the other Villa for an overnight stay something clicked and I felt a special spark in that moment which made me realise he was the person for me.

"That’s why I found Casa hard for me as it made me miss Wil more. I feel so comfortable and happy around him. Seeing him waiting for me after Casa was such a special feeling, I know we’ve had our challenges but it’s made us stronger than ever."

During the Casa Amor segment of the show, Wil became tempted by Scottish newbie Lucy - sharing several kisses behind Uma's back - before going on to recouple with his original bae.

In the days that followed, his antics were exposed - not only by Lucy - but by the annual 'Movie Night', which saw videos of their kisses aired before Uma's eyes.

Following a brief interlude, however, Wil was eventually able to win Uma over... until new boy Reuben entered earlier this week and selected the Londoner during last night's recoupling, leaving Wil single 'and therefore dumped'.

Addressing her future with Wil after leaving with him, Uma went on to explain: "We can’t wait to just do normal things on the outside, stay inside and have a takeaway and go on cute dates.

"Wil wants to take me to Whitley Bay to see where he’s from, but we’ve also discussed him possibly moving to London so I’m looking forward to the future with him.

"The only way is up from here."
