Amanda Seyfried has opened up about why she regretted one specific scene from Mean Girls.
It’s almost unbelievable to think it’s been two decades since American actress Amanda Seyfried, 38, made her Hollywood movie debut in Mean Girls.
She portrayed Karen Portia Smith in the teen comedy film, directed by Mark Waters and written by Only Murders In The Building’s Tina Fey.
For those who have never seen the iconic flick, Karen is a student at North Shore High School and makes up one-quarter of infamous girl gang The Plastics.

Seyfried portrayed Karen as feminine, ditsy and easily influenced by her friends Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) and Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and found herself dressing as a mouse for Halloween.
Following the eventual disbanding of The Plastics - thanks in part to Lindsay Lohan’s character Cady Heron - it’s revealed Karen is now a weather girl who uses her breasts to prophesy whether it’s raining.
"It's like I have ESPN or something. My boobs can always tell when it's going to rain,” she said.
And while the act may have been hilarious at the time, it turns out the mother-of-two doesn’t look back on the scene with the fondest of memories.

In 2022, she spoke to Porter Magazine about her character’s sexualisation, questioning how she allowed it to take place.
“Being 19, walking around without my underwear on - like, are you kidding me? How did I let that happen?
“Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn’t want to upset anybody, and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.”

In another interview in the same year, Seyfried claimed males who had watched Mean Girls would harass her on the street, asking her whether it was raining.
"I always felt really grossed out by that. I was like 18 years old. It was just gross,” she confessed to Marie Claire.
Despite having misgivings about her character’s Mean Girls scene, Seyfried said last year that she believes Karen to be ‘beautiful’.
"I think the reason we love Karen so much, and also the reason that she's so funny is that she is just being brutally honest, and it's so beautiful,” she told Vanity Fair.

A musical remake of Mean Girls was released this year, but it wasn't without controversy too.
A joke at the expense of original star Lindsay Lohan left the star 'hurt' and 'disappointed'.
Megan Thee Stallion quips at one point in the movie: "Y2K fire crotch is back."

'Fire crotch' was an insult levelled at Lohan by Paris Hilton's pal Brandon Davis in a viral video in the Nougties.
The unfortunate gag ultimately ended up being cut.
