Jude Law has iconic response after he finally addresses The Holiday sequel

The hunky heartthrob FINALLY issued a response to the speculation

It's that time of year again - when British actor Jude Law becomes inundated with questions and queries about a potential sequel to festive favourite flick, The Holiday.

This year, however, the 51-year-old has actually addressed the speculation head-on, with a pretty unexpected response to the possibility of a follow-up film.

If you need a little reminder about Law's role in the Christmas cult classic, don't worry - we're here to fill you in.

The star-studded blockbuster tells the intricate tales of four people, attempting to prepare for December whilst battling their own individual single-ness.

Amongst them is emotionally unavailable Los Angeles film producer Amanda - played by Cameron Diaz - who, after discovering that her her boyfriend has been cheating on her - flees to the UK to swap houses with an unlucky-in-love Cotswolds singleton named Iris.

Played by Kate Winslet, Iris, meanwhile - still in love with her ex-boyfriend - attempts to settle in to life across the pond, eventually meeting a friendly face named Miles (Jack Black) who is, thankfully, just as tragic as she is.

Iris also boasts a hunky, yet beautifully, bumbling brother named Graham who remains in the UK and - having forgotten about the house exchange - rocks up to Amanda's new holiday home after a few too many drinks, with the two striking up a cosy flirtationship.

Graham is, of course, played by noughties heartthrob Jude Law.

Having been one of the highest-grossing festive hits of all time, and with fans desperate to see him in his character's glasses once more, fans have repeatedly been calling for a sequel to The Holiday since its 2006 release.

And for the first time, Law has hinted at the possibility that it could one day happen.

Meeting up with the film's writer and director Nancy Meyers this week, a video saw her telling him: "I've seen you interviewed a lot and they keep asking you, 'Is there going to be a sequel?'. What do you think?"

The father-of-seven then replies by repeating the question before placing a napkin over his head and placing a pair of specs on, seemingly recreating the film's iconic character 'Mr Napkinhead' - something Graham does to make his two daughters laugh.

Whilst he didn't say anything else, we're taking that as a hint that Law isn't quite done with the role...

Interestingly, the latest news comes just days after the actor exclusively told Tyla that the much-loved movie surprisingly plays no part in his own family's Christmas traditions.

"Only that everybody comes up to me and tells me how much they love The Holiday," he previously laughed. "But no, no it doesn’t, really."

Law went on to tell us: "I’m always very touched and surprised, and somehow, I forget every year that it’s coming up, and then I’m reminded at exactly this time of year when people express their love for it.

"It’s a very special thing to have in my work."

And before you start thinking he may have been playing up his disassociation with the film, his confession to us came just days after he told SiriusXM listeners that none of his children had ever actually seen the Christmassy banger.

"It’s not my family Christmas movie," he previously claimed.

"See Dad and Cameron [Diaz]? I’m not sure."
