Emmy-nominated docu-series Chef’s Table is back for a new season, ready to take us into the kitchens of world-renowned food stars across the globe.
While we recently had our fix with spin-off Chef’s Table: Noodles, we’ve had quite the wait on our hands for a new instalment of the series proper – in fact, it's been five whole years since we saw Mashama Bailey, Dario Cecchini, Asma Khan and Sean Brock in action.
With volume seven finally here, who’s on the menu this time round?
Nok Suntaranon
Location: Philadelphia, USA

Having originally worked as a flight attendant, Thai chef Chutatip ‘Nok’ Suntaranon opened Kalaya – named after her mother - in south Pennsylvania back in 2019 as a small BYOB restaurant.
Now located in a much larger unit in the Fishtown neighbourhood, Kalaya has gone on to win Suntaranon critical acclaim, having been named one of the world’s best new restaurants by outlets like Food & Wine and Esquire.
In 2023, she was also named the best mid-Atlantic chef by the James Beard Foundation, while this month also marked the launch of her new recipe book Kalaya’s Southern Thai Kitchen.
Kwame Onwuachi
Location: New York, USA

Another James Beard winner, Kwame Onwuachi opened his restaurant Tatiana in New York City in 2022. A tribute to both his sister and his upbringing in and around the Bronx and old neighbourhood of San Juan Hill, the concept is a vibrant celebration of Onwuachi’s Afro-Caribbean heritage.
Since it opened its doors, Tatiana was named the number one restaurant in the city by The New York Times – just a tip of the iceberg for the many accolades it’s won.
And Onwuachi isn’t stopping there, either, having just opened his latest venture Dōgon at the Salamander DC hotel last month.
Ángel León
Location: Cádiz, Spain

Know as the ‘Chef of the Sea’, León holds three Michelin stars through his Cádiz restaurant Aponiente, where his passion for fishing, nature, seaweed, salts and more informs his ‘experimental approach’ to fine dining.
Dedicated to extracting what others do not want or see from the sea, in order to offer people new ingredients and species, León is also passionate about raising awareness towards a more engaged and sustainable future.
In an Instagram post about his Chef’s Table episode, he said the project had been a ‘huge effort’ but had ‘certainly been worth it’.

"I would like to thank not only the Chef’s Table team for their professionalism and high quality work, Netflix for supporting our story and our project in the south of Spain, the Aponiente crew for their effort and for always being on the ball during the filming, and finally, all the people who helped us to make this dream come true,” he wrote.
Norma Listman and Saqib Keval
Location: Mexico City, Mexico

Husband and wife duo Norma Listman and Saqib Keval fuse Mexican and South Asian flavours to create a ‘unique culinary narrative’ that’s reflective of their cultural roots.
They serve as co-chefs and co-owners of an emerging Mexico City restaurant group that now includes the restaurants Masala y Maíz and Mari Gold, using food as an activism tool for exploring justice decolonisation, and the establishment of community-based businesses centering movement building and political education.
After a trailer for the new series dropped, many fans were excited to see the names they’d be finding out more about.
