Reese Witherspoon has shared a huge update on the return of Big Little Lies, which is set to return for a third series... but when?!
The popular drama, which is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, was originally billed as a mini-series when it premiered back in February 2017.

Ever since a second season concluded in 2019, however, fans had been desperate for more - something that one of its lead stars Nicole Kidman previously promised we’d be getting.
As far back as January 2020, she told Deadline: “Everyone’s working. Hopefully we can collide again at one point.”
HBO chief Casey Bloys also pushed that sentiment further as he told the outlet: “I think the thing with Big Little Lies is you have a group of people who all really love working together but obviously they’re some of the most high-profile people working in entertainment.

“Reese [Witherspoon], Nicole, Zoe [Kravitz], Laura [Dern], everybody is so busy.
“It would be great to get the band back together at some point but right now everybody is so busy and there’s no idea, where we’re all saying ‘that makes perfect sense’. I think it’s more of one of those ‘someday’.”
Thankfully, it sounds like ‘someday’ is inching closer, with Kidman saying during a Q&A at the CME Group Tour Championship last November that the team would be bringing us a ‘third one, just FYI’.
Her co-star Reese Witherspoon has now offered an even greater glimmer of hope, confirming that the long-awaited third season is now in the works.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the Golden Globes last weekend, she said: "We are working on it.
"Nic and I have been working on it a lot."
The pair also serve as producers on the show, meaning you could say they’re pretty reliable sources when it comes to updates like this.

The series - which also starred Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, and Laura Dern - followed a group of wealthy young women in Monterey, California, when their lives were shattered by a murder that takes place in their idyllic town.
With the likes of Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling also featuring in supporting roles, season two also saw none other than Meryl Streep join the cast as Mary Louise Wright, Perry's mother.
Who will we have for season three? Watch this space!
