Scarlett Johansson questioned 'what kind of interview' she was having after a reporter asked an 'inappropriate' question about her costume during The Avengers.
It's not uncommon for female celebrities to be asked a slightly different calibre of questions to their male counterparts during interviews - we have seen it time and time again.
Take Ariana Grande being asked if she had to live without make-up or her phone, which she would choose. Or Taylor Swift being asked if she was going to leave 2015 Grammys with 'lots of men'.

And award-winning actor Scarlett Johansson hasn't escaped the sexist questioning throughout her career.
While doing promo for The Avengers in 2012 with co-star Jeremy Renner, Scarlett was asked if she was able to wear 'undergarments' while in her Black Widow costume.
For those unfamiliar with the movie, Scarlett's character wears a black catsuit.

"You're like the fifth person that's asked me that," she said before adding: "What is going on?
"Since when did people start asking each other intricacies about their underwear?"
Backtracking, the interviewer said: "No, because it's such a skin tight..."
To which Scarlett interjected: "I'll leave it up to your imagination."

The interviewer, after finding it hard to get words out, then asked her if she found the question 'inappropriate'.
Scarlett responded: "To ask someone what kind of underpants they wear?"
He said: "I didn't ask you what kind."

She then questioned: "What kind of interview is this?"
And this isn't the first occasion that Scarlett has dealt with misogynistic language.
During another interview about her role as Black Widow, she was asked whether she did 'anything special in terms of diet' to prepare for the part.
Sat beside Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett said: "How come you get the really interesting existential question and I get the rabbit food question?"

Reluctantly, the Lost in Translation star answered the question: "Yes you know, you're training, so you eat a lot of green things."
During a chat with Glamour magazine in 2019, she spoke openly about the sexism that exists within Hollywood.
Scarlett explained: "Even when I was a teenager in the industry or a young woman, my mom would have those conversations.
“Like ‘why is she not getting [paid the same]?’
"There were always these little key terms, like ‘bankability’ and ‘box office draw’.
"Those are all terms that are basically masquerading as sexism."
She added: "It’s really a constant fight.
"I’m still fighting that damn fight. We all are."
