Since its initial release back in 2016 and popularity surge during the Covid-19 pandemic, TikTok has brought all manor of weird and wonderful trends into our world.
We've seen everything from choreography challenges, POVs, make-up tutorials, air-fryer guides, movie extracts, cooking clips, ASMR whispers, acting lip syncs, celebrity catch-ups - the LOT.
This week, however, one woman in America is slamming the video-sharing app for destroying her marriage after 12 years.
Taking to Reddit, the 37-year-old distraught wife anonymously claimed that the widely-popular social media platform entirely changed her husband's character after he became 'hooked' on one particular TikTok trend.

"We were not a traditional couple," she explained. "We both work, we both do chores and child care. He didn’t complain about it.
"[But] Around March this year, he started acting weird. He complained about how I looked. He complained about the food.
"He complained about me working long hours. I work the same hours as he does.

"Throughout our marriage, he never had any complaints about the food I cook. I dress up in a more comfortable attire when I am in my house. He never had a problem with that ever."
It turns out, that the husband in question had formed an 'addiction' to 'tradtok' and 'tradwife' videos.
A 'tradwife' refers to a 'traditional wife' - a woman who adores nothing more than domestic duties, like cooking, cleaning and child-rearing.
Followers of 'tradtok' are typically under the impression that the modern-day 'professional' woman damages the idea of the nuclear family, and that her job should to be cater to her husband's every whim.

But this sad story goes from bad to worse, as this poor woman's husband hadn't just become obsessed by this internet craze - he'd actually fallen head over heels with one particular 'tradwife'.
Opting not to name the social media star, the Reddit wife hit out: "Her content look made up and not realistic to me because it was 100% made for the male audience.
"I told him this was all an act that she puts up for the world to see. This is not reality. Plus nobody cleans their house wearing pretty dresses. The dresses will get dirty."

Apparently, however, the husband was undeterred by her warning, and began comparing his wife of over 12 years to that of a friend of his, who was a stay-at-home mother.
After urging her to quit her job and stay at home with their daughters full-time, the wife explained to readers: "He knew I wasn’t the type of woman who wanted to be a homemaker. He had no problem with it.
"I tried to tell him to stop watching this type of content. It really hurts me that he would idolize another woman rather than his wife."

It was then that the anonymous woman claimed the love of her life had become verbally abusive for the first time in their long marriage, after he demanded she be a 'submissive' wife.
After they continued to grow apart for several months, the final straw for the devastated woman came after she caught him chatting with another woman online.
"He wasn’t even ashamed or felt remorse," she said of their communication. "He told me he deserves better."
No, honey, YOU do!
