People Are Losing It Over Riverdale's Bizarre Season 6 Finale

Viewers of the trailer have been left entirely baffled by the progression of the show.

Riverdale fans are losing it over the bizarre trailer for the seventh season of The CW show, which is set to conclude the supernatural series.

A clip from the trailer was recently posted to Twitter with the revelation that the show will now be set in the 1950s and feature the characters as teenagers again. Watch below:

As the show began as a murder mystery and has taken on more supernatural elements with each season, viewers were quick to comment on the dramatic turn of events.

Reacting to the clip, one viewer wrote: "if you told me in 2018 that cheryl was going to save Riverdale by the power of lesbianism and being literally scarlet witch i would have laughed in your face [sic]."

A second questioned: "How did Riverdale go from 'who killed Jason Blossom?' to 'Cheryl becomes the ultimate weapon to stop the comet'!?!"

"I just know all these actors are gonna be in therapy when this show is over," wrote a third of the show, which has seen more twists and turns than anyone could have ever predicted.

"How in the f**k did Riverdale go from a high school drama/mystery show to this ? Like when and how," questioned a fourth viewer, while a fifth remarked: "I haven't watched this since it was a murder mystery what the actual f**k did I miss."

"What even is this show I have never watched it and all I can tell is that one minute they're killing somebody, the next they're singing and now they have magical powers?!?! I thought this was based on the Archie comics like … what [sic]," remarked a seventh baffled viewer.

An eight remarked: "I've never watched Riverdale, but you could've told me this was a Once Upon a Time parody and I would've believed you."

Explaining why the final show is set in the past, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly: "It felt like a great way to reset, to introduce new dynamics and new themes and of course, as always, be in dialogue with what has come before. We get to see what we're going to recreate, what we're going to reinvent.

"That's the exciting thing about this is it's as close to a blank canvas as you can get without it being a completely new show."

The seventh season of Riverdale is set to drop on The CW in 2023, and one thing is for sure, it looks like absolutely anything could happen.
