It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover has caused unexpected backlash online after posting about a surprisingly controversial drinks garnish.
It all stems from Hoover’s Instagram Stories, where she was spilling the tea on website merch drama.
The writer revealed that she’s going to be left ‘broke as s**t’ after all the products on her website were marked down to $10 an item.

This, of course, comes amid ongoing drama around the film adaptation of her book, which has seen stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni locked in a very bitter legal battle.

“That’s, like, five times cheaper than what I paid for each item, which means by the end of the day today I’m going to be broke as s**t,” the 45-year-old explained to the camera, claiming it was her ‘boss’ behind the reductions.
“Well, I can’t retire now because now I’m gonna be in the hole by 5pm.

“Even if you hate me, you should go buy a piece because it’s a very, kind of, bad thing.
“Anyway, at least I have my Diet Pepsi. It’s still gonna be a great day because you guys get almost free merch, congrats.”
However, if you’d caught some of her other Stories that day, you’ll know that the Diet Pepsi she swigged on wasn’t just a normal Diet Pepsi.
Hoover had filmed herself grabbing herself a drink, starting with ice cubes made out of... yep, you’ve guessed it.

“This may be either a new rock bottom for me or the best thing that’s ever come out of my brain,” she said.
“Look at this, I poured Diet Pepsi into my ice cubes, so that I will have the best Diet Pepsi I’ve ever had in my life.”
After filming herself throwing the ice cubes into her cup, Hoover admitted it looked ‘pretty disgusting’ before she poured the drink over.
“Do you think other people do this?” she asked.

“We put water in our water. Do y’all put wine in your wine? I guess you don’t drink wine with ice cubes.”
Taking a sip, she joked: “I’ll do anything not to drink coffee.”

Hoover then gave the verdict, telling her followers that the concoction tasted ‘just like every other Diet Pepsi’ she’s ever had, adding it was going to be a ‘great day’.

This clearly didn't go down well with everyone, with one commenter even claiming the videos were 'disturbing', while others called them 'odd' and 'attention seeking'.
However, another added: "People who are concerned don’t really know her humor - this is how she is."
Responding to the backlash, Hoover wrote: "Me making ice cubes out of Diet Pepsi is one of the least disturbing things I've posted her."
In another post, she shared a photo of a bottle of Pepsi, quipping: "Such disturbing content.”
